The complicated diagnostic issues are often passed to Don, although the entire team will confer on issues as well. We also rely on his decades of expertise for VW, Mini and Saab.
Twenty-one years servicing all Volkswagen and other makes. Don is known for solving the tough issues other shops can’t fix.
January 1, 2018 Don Ruger celebrated the beginning of his twenty-first year on the Autoworks team. Don hails from Berwick, Maine and is married with two children. He is an expert technician especially in all things Volkswagon as well as complicated issues others cannot fix. Don has successfully trained and mentored new technicians and young people entering the field.
During the summer months Don enjoys his camp and fun on the water, fishing and boating with family and friends. During the fall he is an accomplished, avid bow hunter and we hear he is an awesome ski mobiler. If there is anything on your car or truck you are worried about be sure to come in and have Don take a look at it.
Ken Vining, Automobile Service Excellence certified master technician at Autoworks almost 23 years. Vntage Mustangs and rare Pantera were here in recent years. There isn’t much that Ken doesn’t know how to solve when it comes to diagnosis and repairs. His current ASE certifications include; Master auto tech, Master medium and heavy truck, Undercar specialist, such as suspension, brakes and exhaust systems, and he has the Advance level specialist engine performance certification as well.
Whether a favorite Ford truck, or BMW driving machine and everything in between, Ken has complex repairs covered. Ken is a terrific mentor with the young apprentices explaining procedures and addressing leaks.
Ken did some fine tuning to this racing pony that had been in a South America race and was readying for the “Great Race” Ogunquit, Me. to Wilmington, North Carolina race. The owners from the mid-west were extremely pleased.

He prefers winter vacations for snowmobiling in Northern Maine.
John Reed came to us from Audi two years ago and prior to that Land Rover. He is a highly skilled Audi technician and everything else.
He recently had to take apart a dashboard to install a heater door replacement. He is a Master ASE technician in engine suspension, steering , brakes, electrical , heating and air conditioning. He enjoys working on vehicle alignments with the Hunter Eagle Eye alignment machine.
He is enjoying his new role as Grandpa in 2020.
Andrew has three years of Mercedes Benz work experience under his belt. He is ASE certified level one. He is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the Universal Technical Institute in Norwood MA. and was the third place winner in the Ford AAA Skills NH competition.
Whether it’s a Mercedes GLK250, for a Mercedes Sprinter Van. He is also our hybrid specialist. He attends updated electrical systems seminars every six months.
Andrew is so fit and agile he is known to climb into hard to reach places such as a truck engine compartment to better reach the components he needs to work on.
He enjoys life in the Seacoast, having returned to us after a year in Pittsburg, Pa. Andrew is coming up to his third year anniversary at Autoworks.
